Whilst Slovenia may be relatively small in both size and population, it offers a huge diversity of scenery, with jagged peaks, alpine forests and beautiful lakes, making it one of the most awe-inspiring countries in Europe. Add to that a myriad number of photogenic churches, and the possibility of snow in winter, and we have the ingredients for an incredible photographic experience.

Our starting point will be at Ljubljana airport, where we will travel to our hotel in Bled, around 30 mins drive away. We will have 5 nights at the hotel, giving us plenty of time to explore a number of beautiful locations around Slovenia. During the trip there will be no fixed itinerary – Mark and Lee will have a number of locations in mind to visit, and we will fit these in around the weather to maximise their potential. None of the locations are very far away from our hotel, with most under an hour's drive from Bled.

The majority of the locations of interest photographically are in the northwest of the country towards the Julian alps, and our hotel is ideally situated to access many of them. We will undoubtedly have several sessions at Lake Bled, an incredibly photogenic location right on our doorstep. Bled’s jewel in the crown is undoubtedly its island, with the iconic Pilgrimage church of the assumption of Mary, that makes a stunning focal point for any photograph of this location. Whilst typically photographed at sunrise, when mist and reflections are a possibility, it can also work well at sunset. Other locations that we may visit include several hilltop churches, Lakes Bohinj and Jasna, Kranskja Gora, as well as any other spots that we find along the way. If there is significant snowfall then photographic opportunities may present themselves at almost every turn.

Note that snowfall can at times be significant in Slovenia during winter, and safety will always be our primary concern, particularly if access to certain locations prove difficult.
