SLOVENIA IN AUTUMN

In January 2024, I spent a week scouting locations for future Slovenia winter workshops with friend and fellow photographer Mark McColl. We'll be running a winter workshop in January 2025, but I loved the landscape of Slovenia so much that I returned with a group in October 2024 to capture the autumn colours - which were stunning. I'll be repeating that trip in October 2026.

We'll be based in a hotel on the shore of Lake Bled, which makes the lake itself (quite probably the most beautiful location in Slovenia) easily accessible for our sunrise and sunset shoots there. Other key locations include Jasna Lakes for views of the Julian Alps - hopefully reflecting in the calm waters of the lake - Sava Springs, the Church of St Primus near Jamnik, the Church of St Thomas near Skofja Loka, Lake Bohinj, the Vrsic and Mangart Passes, the stunning Vintgar Gorge, Pericnik Waterfall and more.

We'll travel around in a spacious 9-seater people carrier, heading out before sunrise each morning and shooing until blue hour is over (weather permitting) with breaks for breakfast at the hotel and lunch out on the road.
