ICONIC NEW YORK CITY

If a place could have a chip on its shoulder, NYC’s would be huge. It’s one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting cities and its landmark locations are so familiar that you feel like you’ve known the place all your life before you even arrive. There literally is nowhere quite like it, and the photo opportunities are off the chart.

This 5-night workshop will be based in Midtown Manhattan at the Evelyn Hotel, within walking distance of the Empire State Building, the Flatiron building, the Rockefeller Centre and other iconic locations. We’ll also make use of the city’s excellent Uber network to visit Brooklyn, Exchange Place and Liberty State Park for amazing views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. We’ll shoot sunset and twilight from ‘The Top of the Rock’ and The Empire State Building, we’ll walk The Highline, take the Staten Island Ferry to capture the Statue of Liberty, visit The Guggenheim Museum, the amazing Oculus Transportation Hub, The Vessell in Hudson Yards, New York Public Library, Grand Central Terminal and more.

Each day will begin before sunrise, end after dark and be packed with inspirational photography. Technique-wise, we’ll cover architecture, low light, long exposures, abstracts, details, black & white and maybe even a bit of street photography. This isn’t a workshop where we all plonk our tripods down in a neat line and shoot exactly the same scene though. Sure, there will be times when there’s a specific shot to be taken, but New York is a place where you can also find your own vision, so that is what I’ll be encouraging you all to do!

This workshop is limited to a maximum of 6 participants. Once a booking has been received from you I will recommend flights - there are many options from London and regional airports in the UK. If you would like to extend your stay, I can also book extra nights at the hotel on request.
